Rolex Daytona

In this edition of Question Mark by Ideal Luxury, Mark talks about the Rolex Daytona.  Considered by many to be the “holy grail” of watches, Mark discusses what makes this watch so special and why it’s so popular.

Why is the Rolex Daytona the holy grail of Rolex watches?  Is it because of its long history of being worn by celebrities, most notably Paul Newman?  Newman wore his Rolex Daytona (a gift from his wife) through much of his acting career and race driving career as well.  It’s said he wore it daily until the end of his life.  Or is it a popular watch because of its non-rolex movement?  The hands move and function differently than a standard Rolex watch, making it distinct from other models.  Or possibly, is it because of it’s limited production since the original model was released by Rolex?
